Dr Hossain Shahidullah
Dr Hossain Shahidullah completed his Bachelor of Medical Sciences from University of Nottingham (1984), Bachelor of Surgery from University of Nottingham (1986), Member of the Royal College of Physicians (U. K.) (1989), Certificate of Completion of Specialty Training in Dermatology (1997), Doctor of Medicine, University of Edinburgh (1999) & Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh (2005).
Dr Hossain Shahidullah was awarded the William Goodall Gibson Fellowship (2 years) Faculty of Medicine, University of Edinburgh (1993).
Dr Hossain's work experience spans over 20 years namely as a Consultant Dermatologist at London Road Community Hospital, Consultant Paediatric Dermatologist at Birmingham Childrens Hospital, Clinical Fellow in Paediatric Dermatology at University of California- SanFrancisco, Senior Registrar at Leicester Royal Infirmary NHS Trust & Research Fellow in Dermatology at University of Edinburgh.
Dr Hossain keeps himself up to date with paediatric dermatology by attending the British Society of Paediatric Dermatology meetings, The Annual Consultant Course for Dermatologists, and the Paediatric Section of the British Academy of Dermatologists.
Dr Hossain has gained experience of both clinical and laboratory based research. He was involved in clinical trials -a study of Acitretin in persistent viral warts, Neoral ciclosporin in paediatric atopic dermatitis and FK 506 in severe adult atopic dermatitis.
He has collaborated in a study based at Nottingham University comparing the efficacy of short term potent topical steroids with long term weak topical steroids in mild to moderate atopic dermatitis in children. He is a Member of Group for European Audit of the use of propanolol for infantile haemangioma (PITCH).
Dr Hossain Shahidullah is a member of the British Association of Dermatologists, Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, British Society of Paediatric Dermatology, Derby Medical Society & Midlands Dermatological Society.
Dr Hossain has written book chapters, presented nationally and internationally, with 22 journal publications to his credit. He has helped to teach medical students and train future dermatologists for many years.
