Dr. Hussam Abusahmin

Dr. Hussam completed his Bachelor of Medicine & Surgery (MBBcH) from Tripoli University, Libya before moving to the United Kingdom for specialist training. He is a member of Royal College of Physicians (MRCP – UK) from the Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh, UK and obtained MSc Health Science (Diabetes) from Warwick University, UK. He also completed MRCP in Endocrine from Royal College of Physicians, UK and CCT Diabetes & Endocrinology from the General Medical Council, UK.

Dr. Hussam’s endocrine work experience spans is more than 7 years in United Kingdom. He worked as a Consultant at Prince Charles Hospital and Royal Glamorgan Hospital, Wales in the United Kingdom, and spent 5 years of specialty training Diabetes and Endocrine in different hospitals in Wales.

Dr. Hussam’s area of expertise includes Diagnosis and managing adults with different type of Diabetes, Initiating and monitoring insulin pump, Diabetic foot, Lipids metabolism, Thyroid disease, Osteoporosis, Calcium and Electrolytes metabolism, Pituitary and Adrenal disorder.

Dr. Hussam is a member of Welsh Endocrine and Diabetes Society (WEDS), British Endocrine Society (BES), Diabetes UK (DUK), European Society of Endocrine (ESE), Association of British Clinical Diabetologist (ABCD), UK and Royal College of Physicians-Edinburgh (RCP-Edinburgh)

Dr. Hussam has completed several courses namely National training scheme for the use of radio-iodine in benign thyroid disease, Masterclass courses, Critical Appraisal Course, Advanced Life Support (ALS), Insulin pump workshop, Diabetes Education and Self-Management for Ongoing and Newly Diagnosed (DESMOND).
