Al Zahra Hospital, Sharjah organizes 3rd batch of Leadership in Quality Program
Following are the achievements from the projects presented by various teams:
Mr Carlo and Ms Jeseena presenting the topic on ‘Optimizing Inventory Management System in the Laboratory’. The outcomes from this project were:
Minimized the wastage of Reagents due to short expiry. Improvement in reagent efficiency Lesser rejection of invoices
Systematic follow ups and hence less incidence of short supplies.
GRN, Issuance and receipt of items on system on time. All items available on system to book consumptions realistically.
Most of the indents are completely fulfilled within an acceptable time frame.
No excess or repeat Indents and hence excess or dormant stocks are contained.
Ms Manal presenting her project on ‘Improving the patient/staff safety by minimizing sharps injuries’. The outcomes from this project were:
All HCWs had an opportunity to examine the problem in a comprehensive manner
Initial data was collected through close observation to the staff practices indifferent situations
Safety syringes were introduced in the hospital to decrease sharp injuries
Discussions with staff about their experiences and preventing recurrences
Discussion with ICC about the current situation to develop the plan of the project based on the priorities and resource availability.
Ms Saba presenting her project on ‘Breaking barriers in weight loss management’. The outcomes from this project were:
Successfully achieved weight loss in 81.25% of participants
Median BMI reduced from 28. 7 to 26.4 in 45 days The maximum weight was lost was 7 KGs in 45 days The project inculcated positive mind set in participating team
Quality Department thanked all the participating project teams in making the Hospital better with their sincere efforts. As these improvement are carried out by their own staff, these are undoubtedly more sustainable.
AZHS has now concluded 10 improvement projects in last 8 months and StoryBoard presentations will be conducted in coming days along with certificate ceremony. With several tangible and non-tangible achievements, the Leadership in Quality program that was initiated last year has received lot of interest from staff.
